A Place for Kids
We've mentioned that 150 is an awesome place and Tree House Arts is just one example of this. The Tree House room resides on the second floor of the 150 building. It can only be described as super fun and totally state of the art.
A variety of initiatives take place in this space, including art camps and classes led by teachers skilled in both art instruction and art therapy. Since the focus is on at-risk and underserved youth, art becomes a powerful tool for self-expression and self-esteem building. In addition, Tree House serves as a site for mentors and mentees to hang out and create - an awesome way to spend time bonding and learning together.
Since many of our students are from refugee families, we feel that Tree House is a great example of acting locally and creating globally - art that reflects a variety of family and cultural backgrounds will be on display and will be used to raise awareness and funds for causes connected to the students' home countries and villages.
